As the New York Jets were busy trading away their two best defensive players, analysts and fans around the league waited to see if anything would happen to one of their top offensive stars.

Running back Breece Hall is in the final year of his contract with the team. At 1-7, the former second-round pick was considered a likely trade candidate before Tuesdayโ€™s deadline.

But as the day came and went, Hall was not one of the names moved by New York. A day later, head coach Aaron Glenn affirmed that Hall remained part of the teamโ€™s long-term plans.

โ€œBreece was not a guy I wanted to get rid of,โ€ Glenn said. โ€œHeโ€™s a damn good player. Any of those reports that came out, I donโ€™t know what youโ€™re talking about.โ€

Despite that commitment, rumors circulated that Hall was unhappy with his standing in New York. One rumor claimed that Hall โ€œwanted outโ€ in the final minutes before the deadline.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Hall squashed those rumors.

Hall speaks out on trade rumors

From the beginning of the offseason, Glenn made it clear that he wanted Hall on his roster for the 2025 season. On Wednesday, Hall reaffirmed his desire to continue playing for the current staff.

โ€œI love the coaching staff,โ€ Hall said. โ€œI love what Aaron Glenn is doing. At the end of the day, Iโ€™m worried about showing up on Sunday and being a good dude to my teammates.โ€

Through eight games, Hall has rushed for 581 yards. He is averaging 5.0 yards per carry, his highest mark since his rookie season, when he played in only seven games. Heโ€™s on pace to set career highs in rushing yards and scrimmage yards if he stays healthy.

That health will be critical if Hall hopes to earn a long-term extension. The 24-year-old has dealt with injuries over the last few seasons but could be in line for a new deal that would make him one of the highest-paid players at his position.

As productive as he has been this season, the rumors surrounding his future in New York have continued to follow him. It isnโ€™t something the veteran has chosen to dwell on.

โ€œI think thereโ€™s been a lot of stuff out, stemming from the summer, a lot of stuff thatโ€™s true and false,โ€ Hall said. โ€œI let that be what it is. Itโ€™s out there; it is what it is. But Iโ€™m here, and Iโ€™m worried aboutโ€ฆ weโ€™re playing Cleveland this week, thatโ€™s what Iโ€™m worried about.โ€

Hall wonโ€™t be moved for the remainder of the season. While he denied requesting a trade, he didnโ€™t directly address whether he might have preferred the organization to move on from him.

Itโ€™s a minor distinction, but one that highlights the questions set to follow the veteran in the coming months.

2026 outlook

Thereโ€™s nothing preventing the Jets from keeping Hall beyond the 2026 season. The team could use the franchise tag for two straight years, keeping him under contract through 2027.

Hall, though, is within his rights to seek a long-term deal.

At the very least, he made it clear that New York remains where he wants to be.

โ€œIโ€™m here, I want to be here. I love being a New York Jet and everything,โ€ Hall said. โ€œAt the end of the day, I donโ€™t control what goes on; I only control what I do on the field and how I handle my business off the field.โ€

Time will tell if the Jets agree that Hall fits into their long-term vision, but itโ€™s clear the organization has a plan for the running back moving forward.
