Indianapolis Colts cornerback Sauce Gardner left Sunday’s game with an apparent leg injury of the non-contact variety.

The former New York Jets two-time First-Team All-Pro left his team’s game against the Houston Texans quite early (13:16 remaining in the first quarter). After engaging a press on Texans tight end Shane Stoverโ€”who ultimately took a shallow-cross pathโ€”Gardner came up struggling to move normally.

Gardner, 25, was shipped off by Aaron Glenn’s Jets at the trade deadline this season. In return, New York received two first-round picks and wide receiver AD Mitchell.

From a Colts perspective, fans were hoping the athletic and lanky corner could represent one of the final ingredients for a deep playoff run. While Shane Steichen’s squad is still 8-3, it’s lost two of its last three contests.

Gardner has not returned to the game with what the team is officially calling a calf injury.

Through two-plus games for the Colts, Gardner has compiled 13 tackles and two passes defensed.
