According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the New York Jets have signed cornerback Jordan Clark to their 53-man roster.
Signing with New York as an undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame this spring, Clark worked his way onto the Jetsโ practice squad after a strong summer.
He made his NFL debut last week against the Falcons, earning a practice squad elevation ahead of the game. Clark didnโt log a defensive snap but played 11 snaps on special teams, finishing with a 60.0 grade from Pro Football Focus.
“He [Clark] is smart, he is instinctive, he has played a bunch of ball,” head coach Aaron Glenn said of Clark.
Jarvis Brownlee Jr., who has stepped in as the Jetsโ starting slot corner since the team traded Michael Carter II to the Eagles, missed last weekโs game with a hip injury, and he will be out again on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.
Sunday also doubles as an early NFL audition for Clark, who has spent most of the year grinding on the practice squad and waiting for a real look. The son of former NFL safety and current ESPN analyst Ryan Clark, he is expected to get his first defensive snaps in the NFL against Miami.
With Brownlee still out, the Jets need another dependable option in the slot, and Clark will finally get a chance to prove his value in the Green and White.
Backed by Glennโs confidence, Clark enters the final stretch of the season with a chance to show the instincts his head coach sees are NFL caliber.
