The New York Jets might be at the bottom of the NFL standings, but as a byproduct of their on-field ineptitude, they sit near the top of the charts in many categories related to long-term roster-building.

In one category, the throne is theirs.

Jets have the NFL’s best draft treasure chest

After a 1-7 start, the Jets went through a fire sale at the 2025 NFL trade deadline. They shipped off their two best defensive players, former All-Pros Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams, in exchange for packages that yielded three first-round picks, a second-round pick, and two players.

Everyone knew that the Jets received quite the massive haul for their deadline sell-off. What might surprise some fans is precisely how massive it was.

Armed with an extra first-round pick (via Indianapolis) and second-round pick (via Dallas), the Jets own the NFL’s most valuable collection of 2026 draft selections.

According to Tankathon, the Jets’ draft picks have a cumulative valuation of 1,332.4 points (based on a chart set byย The Harvard Sports Analysis Collective). This ranks first in the NFL by nearly 100 points compared to the closest team, the Cleveland Browns.

  1. New York Jets: 1,332.4
  2. Cleveland Browns: 1,233.4
  3. Las Vegas Raiders: 1,166.4
  4. Pittsburgh Steelers: 1,044.4
  5. Tennessee Titans: 1,003.2
  6. New York Giants: 962.6
  7. Miami Dolphins: 956.6
  8. Houston Texans: 943.5
  9. Los Angeles Rams: 922.0
  10. New Orleans Saints: 919.0

And this is just for the 2026 draft. In 2027, the Jets’ haul of picks will be even stronger.

Compared to 2026, when their incoming haul is headlined by one first-rounder and one second-rounder, the 2027 draft will see the Jets pull in two first-rounders. It is also worth noting that the Jets do not own their 2026 third-round pick (via the Davante Adams trade), whereas they still possess their 2027 third-rounder.

That leaves the Jets with the following collection of picks throughout the first two days of the 2027 draft:

  • NYJ R1
  • IND R1
  • DAL/GB R1
  • NYJ R2
  • NYJ R3

While we cannot assign an exact point value to 2027 picks at the moment due to the unknown projected slots of each pick, the Jets’ 2027 haul is undoubtedly the strongest in the league at this point.

Not only are the Jets the only NFL team with two incoming first-rounders in 2027, but no other team even has a single extra first-rounder as of today. Dallas previously did via the Micah Parsons trade, but they will be sending over a first-rounder (the best between their own and Green Bay’s) to New York via the Quinnen Williams trade.

Toss in New York’s $95.1 million in projected 2026 cap space, fourth-most in the NFL, via Over The Cap, and the Jets might be in the best position to build up their roster out of any NFL team.

The only challenge from here is the same one that has stumped every Jets general manager over the last 15 years: Translating those assets into victories.
