After moving up from No. 33 last night to re-enter the first round and select Indiana wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr., the New York Jets have traded out of pick No. 44.
According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Jets dealt No. 44 to the Detroit Lions, sliding back to pick 50 while acquiring a fifth-round selection (No. 128 overall).
At No. 44, Detroit ultimately selected Michigan edge rusher Derrick Moore.
According to the trade value chart, it is a near-even deal, with only a 16-point edge toward the Lions. After this trade, the Jets currently own four fourth-round selections (Nos. 103, 128, and 140).
That is important to keep in mind because the Jets do not currently own a third-round pick, and having that kind of capital in the fourth round gives New York enough ammunition to explore acquiring a third-round selection.
