Will the New York Jets change their uniforms again?
There is absolutely no indication that it will happen anytime soon, but it appears that third-year Jets running back Braelon Allen would be open to the idea.
Taking to X/Twitter, Allen hyped up a uniform concept shared by the account @jpsportsdesign, writing the caption, “These are crazyyy”.
The concept seems to be an attempt to follow the mold set by many recent uniform redesigns around the NFL, which have blended old-school and new-school aesthetics by presenting clean, simplistic looks with subtle modern elements intended to capture the identity of the team.
The Baltimore Ravens, Tennessee Titans, and Atlanta Falcons are the three teams who have employed this style of redesign in the 2026 offseason.
The concept reposted by Allen features the Jets’ signature contrail design, which is prominently displayed within their current logo, on the shoulders. The number font slightly deviates from the traditional block number font to look slightly sleeker, without going too far overboard. The pants stripe features a subtle “jet” symbol near the top.
New York last introduced new uniforms in 2024, five years after their previous redesign in 2019, which is the minimum timeframe required for an NFL team to unveil new primary uniforms. The Jets cannot introduce new primary uniforms until 2029.
However, it seems unlikely that changes are on the horizon. After fans pushed for a modern redesign in the late-2010s, the team’s 2019 rebrand was poorly received, prompting a pivot back to a full-on throwback for the Jets’ new primary look. The team’s current primary uniforms and logo are nearly a carbon copy of their look from 1978-89, with only a handful of extremely minor tweaks.
For the most part, the team’s 2024 rebrand has been well-received by fans. It would be surprising if the Jets introduced a new uniform when the window reopens in 2029, but in the meantime, they can continue to keep things fresh with alternate and throwback uniforms.
