According to the man himself, the New York Jets have offered a contract to 37-year-old Russell Wilson to serve as the team’s QB2 behind his former teammate, Geno Smith.

In a conversation with Ryan Dunleavy of The New York Post, Wilson revealed the Jets, whom he met with last Tuesday, have an offer on the table for him.

โ€œIt was great,โ€ Wilson said of his meeting with the Jets. โ€œThey offered me, and Iโ€™m trying to figure out what the next best thing is for me to do. I still know I can play ball at a high level, but also I haveย an opportunity to do TV, so weโ€™ll see what happens.โ€

He also praised Smith, with whom he was teammates for three seasons in Seattle.

โ€œGeno is a great friend,โ€ Wilson said, โ€œbut Iโ€™m just focused on today and making a difference [at the BTIG Charity Day event in New York].โ€

Wilson, 37, is well past his prime, but is still capable of being a No. 2 option in the league. He is consistently healthy and can operate a conventional offense. The ten-time Pro Bowler also offers over 200 starts of valuable experience for the young passers on New York’s roster, including fourth-round rookie Cade Klubnik.

A recent report emerged that Wilson is in “deep talks” to enter the broadcasting space and hang up his cleats ahead of the 2026 season.

โ€œThere are a lot of great networks,” he said of potentially turning his attention to broadcasting. โ€œI still love football โ€” being in it in every way. Staying ready to play, too. Every day, Iโ€™m training and getting ready. The great news is that there are a lot of good opportunities. Playing 14-plus years has been amazing for me; Iโ€™m just grateful I get to do what I love to do.โ€

Whether Wilson will join the Jets remains unknown, but we know New York has made an offer to the former Super Bowl champion.
