Breece Hall is a New York Jet, and he is on track to remain so for the next three seasons.

The former second-round pick officially signed his three-year, $45.75 contract extension, ending an offseason full of questions surrounding New York’s top running back.

And nobody appears happier about it inside the organization than head coach Aaron Glenn.

“I’ve said all along I wanted Breece to be here,” Glenn said in a statement. “He’s a good football player that can help us win games. He has shown the ability to consistently make plays and have real impact on the outcome of games. We’re excited to keep him here as we continue to build a team that can compete each week.”

Hall recorded his first 1,000-yard season in 2025 despite the team winning just three games. In four seasons with the team, the Iowa State product has totaled 3,398 rushing yards and 5,040 yards from scrimmage. He is 12th on the franchise’s all-time rushing list, with an expectation to crack the top five this season.

The freshly signed running back is excited about making that kind of stamp on Jets history.

Hall speaks out

Hall’s future in New York was long in doubt. During the struggles of the 2025 season, trade rumors circulated between the Jets and several contending teams for the services of the star running back.

Instead, New York opted not only to keep Hall but also to make him a key pillar for the franchise as they traverse their current rebuild. That was something the runner did not take lightly.

Once the contract agreements were made, it was clear that Florham Park was where Hall wanted to be.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue my career with the Jets,” Hall said. “Through it all, this organization and our fanbase have continued to believe in me. This is where I want to be. I believe in what we’re building, and I’m appreciative of Woody [Johnson], Darren [Mougey], and AG [Glenn] for their continued trust in me. Let’s get to work.”

New York did a lot this offseason to add talent around Hall and the Jets’ offense. Gang Green finished dead last in many key categories on that side of the ball last season and worked hard to ensure 2026 would not have a similar outcome.

The commitment to Hall shows just how far the team is willing to go.

Jets plans

There are very few true “star” players on the Jets. Outside of Hall, the only players on the roster who could be considered blue-chip talents are wide receiver Garrett Wilson, second overall pick David Bailey, and safety Minkah Fitzpatrick.

Hall’s extension shows how committed the team’s front office is to keeping the blue-chip pieces they have. For the first time in many years, it feels like the team is heading in the right direction.

Hall’s extension is just the latest example.

“This agreement reflects Woody and Christopher’s belief in our vision and continued commitment to building a team positioned for long-term success,” Jets general manager Darren Mougey said.

After weeks of negotiating, the Jets finally have a key player on their roster locked into a long-term deal. Now, Hall is happy, the team is happy, and their fanbase has reason to believe things will be okay.

It’s truly a sign of new times for Gang Green.
