After years of drama about his future in the Big Apple, running back Breece Hall has come to terms with the New York Jets on a contract extension.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Hall and the Jets have agreed on a three-year, $45.75 million contract extension.
The Jets had used the franchise tag on Hall in March. The two sides had until July 15 to agree to an extension. By signing Hall now, general manager Darren Mougey has avoided a potential distraction that could have lingered into training camp.
The $45.75 million total value of Hall’s contract places fifth among running backs, trailing James Cook ($46 million), Josh Jacobs ($48 million), Travis Etienne ($48 million), and Jeremiyah Love ($53 million). His $15.25 million salary ranks third, trailing Christian McCaffrey ($19 million) and Saquon Barkley ($20.6 million).
Hall is coming off an impressive 2025 season in which he carried an immense workload for a talent-deprived Jets offense. In 16 games, Hall rushed 243 times for 1,605 yards (4.4 yards per carry) and four touchdowns, adding 36 receptions on 48 targets for 350 yards and a touchdown. His 1,415 yards from scrimmage ranked 10th among running backs and were more than triple any other player on the Jets’ roster.
Hall was also impressive from an advanced analytics standpoint. According to NFL Pro, Hall racked up 241 yards over expected, with 142 coming in the passing game and 99 coming after the catch. His 241 YOE ranked seventh among running backs, indicating that he consistently added extra yards beyond what was blocked for him.

Now locked up through his age-27 season on a top-three salary, the Jets are hoping that the best is yet to come for the Iowa State product. After four years of being forced to overcome unfavorable circumstances, including poor quarterbacking, questionable play-calling, and shoddy blocking, New York plans to give Hall a friendly environment that will allow him to unleash his best numbers to date.
That’s the message that a franchise sends when it re-signs a running back for over $15 million per year.
