The New York Jets revamped their roster more than almost any team in the NFL during the 2026 offseason.

Has that changed their expectations for the upcoming season?

The answer is not very much, at least according to the most recent 2026 win total projections from BetMGM.

The Jets have an over-under of 5.5, tied with the Las Vegas Raiders for 30th in the NFL. Only the Arizona Cardinals and rival Miami Dolphins, at 4.5 apiece, are lower.

Is this too low for New York?

The honest truth is, no, it isn’t. The Jets failed to eclipse 5.5 wins in each of the last two seasons and four of the past six. Until proven otherwise, it should be expected that the Jets will struggle in the standings.

It is true that many of those failed seasons occurred with completely different rosters, coaching staffs, and front offices from the current iteration of the franchise. Head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey are responsible for just one of the 15 seasons in the team’s current playoff drought.

Glenn and Mougey still have a chance to deviate from the Jets’ long-standing struggles. For now, though, they deserve to be lumped in with their predecessors until the results follow on the field.

The duo’s debut season in Florham Park delivered a -203 point differential, the third-worst mark in franchise history. So far, they’ve been as bad or worse than Robert Saleh, Todd Bowles, Adam Gase, or any other low point in the franchise’s history.

Of course, there are plenty of caveats to the ugly results of the 2025 season. Glenn and Mougey came in while the Jets were in a transitional stage following the failed Aaron Rodgers era. The roster’s talent level was depleted as New York reaped the cap ramifications of the all-in moves that were made to maximize Rodgers’ tenure. The new regime only doubled down on the situation when they traded two All-Pros mid-season for future first-round picks.

Still, 3-14 is 3-14. NFL analysts and fans outside of the Gang Green fandom have little reason to believe that things will change until they see it. For that reason, a 5.5 over-under is fair for the Jets.

But there are plenty of reasons for the New York faithful to believe that the boys in green will comfortably eclipse that mark, whether those outside of Florham Park believe it or not.
