Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey have made it a priority to extend homegrown talent throughout their first two seasons with the New York Jets.

Most recently, the team locked up running back Breece Hall on a three-year, $43.5 million deal.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday at the team’s OTAs, Jets head coach Aaron Glenn emphasized how important it was for the team to extend the former second-round pick.

“Extremely important,” Glenn said of the extension. “We wanted him to be here. Just get that done and out of his mind so he can go play is always a good thing.”

In 56 games with the Jets since 2022, Hall has rushed for 3,398 yards and 18 touchdowns while reeling in 188 of his 250 targets in the passing game for 1,642 yards and nine touchdowns.

During the 2025 season, he hit a career-high in rushing yards (1,065) alongside four rushing touchdowns. The Iowa State product also compiled 350 receiving yards and one touchdown on 36 receptions.

Hall is one of six players Mougey and Glenn have extended throughout their two offseasons with the Jets, alongside linebacker Jamien Sherwood, wide receiver Garrett Wilson, cornerback Sauce Gardner, center Josh Myers, and tight end Jeremy Ruckert.

For the first time in his career last season, Hall played behind a competent offensive line and delivered his best rushing season, which gave fans a glimmer of his untapped upside moving forward.

Now, entering his fifth NFL season after being rewarded with the contract he was looking for, Hall is expected to continue elevating his game as one of the best dual-threat RBs in the league.
