The famous words on Jules Winnfield’s wallet in the 1994 film “Pulp Fiction” were actually referring to a future New York Jets star who hadn’t been born yet.
At least, according to Jets receiver Adonai Mitchell.
Taking to X/Twitter, Mitchell responded to a highlight reel of fellow Jets wideout Garrett Wilson with the caption, “a bad mutha-“.
Wilson, 25, has been a “BMF”, indeed, for the Jets in his four-year NFL career. Despite catching passes from a myriad of quarterbacks and running routes for multiple offensive play callers, Wilson racked up three consecutive seasons of 1,000 receiving yards to begin his career, becoming the first Jets player to do so.
Heading into 2026, Wilson hopes to have the best season of his career alongside veteran quarterback Geno Smith.
The 35-year-old is coming off a down year with the Las Vegas Raiders, but certain data suggests that Smith was the victim of bad luck as it pertains to his turnover woes. If Smith is back at his peak, he’d not only be the best Jets quarterback in a long time, but perhaps the perfect quarterback to unlock Wilson’s potential as a deep receiver.
Back in 2024, while catching passes from Smith, Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf led the NFL with 16 deep receptions. Wilson, meanwhile, has never eclipsed 7 deep receptions in an NFL season.
Mitchell, too, is hoping to benefit from Smith’s accuracy down the field. The third-year receiver has been one of the league’s better separators over the past two seasons, but has struggled to translate it to production, largely due to poor quarterbacking.
In a perfect world for Jets fans, both Wilson and Mitchell will emerge as “BMFs” in 2026.
