New York Jets announce Sunday uniform combination

The New York Jets appear to be summoning the ghosts of gridiron past as they desperately try to reach the win column for the first time in 2021.

Team co-owner Woody Johnson took to Twitter to showcase the Jets’ uniform combination for Sunday’s visit of the Tennessee Titans (1 p.m. ET, CBS).

New York will once again turn to the white stuff, as they’ll combine such a jersey and pants combo for Week 4 action. Johnson’s tweet showcases Michael Carter and John Franklin-Myers donning the set during the team’s Week 2 home opener against New England.

The Jets (0-3) have worn white jerseys in two of their first three contests. This will mark the 80th time they’ve worn white at home, previously going 38-31-1 in such games.

“Stick together & keep fighting,” Johnson encourages fans in another tweet, this one showcasing more members of the Jets’ offense. “See you on Sunday.”

Wearing white against Tennessee evokes memories of one of the most renowned Jets-Titans matchups, a November 2008 get-together at LP Field (now known as Nissan Stadium).

Tennessee entered that game as the last undefeated team in the NFL with a 10-0 record.  The Jets muted Music City through a 34-13 shellacking highlighted by two Leon Washington touchdowns.

Washington, then a rookie, will partake in Sunday’s game as a special teams assistant with the Jets. The Florida State alum also spent his final NFL seasons with the Titans before departing after the 2014 season.

Though the Jets’ regulars have been ravaged by injury, they’re set to welcome back both receiver Jamison Crowder and safety Ashtyn Davis. Head coach Robert Saleh also declared that Crowder’s fellow receiver Denzel Mims will be active on Sunday after spending the last two games as a healthy scratch.
