As the offensive tackle-wide receiver debate rages on and the 2020 NFL Draft draws closer, more information begins to slip out into the public. (Whether or not this information is accurate remains to be seen.)

This time, the most recent New York Jets-draft report revolves around a wide receiver.

According to Ralph Vacchiano of SNY, the Jets “love” Alabama wide receiver Henry Ruggs III, a kid they have been “eyeing very closely.”

Ruggs, 21, ran a blazing 4.27-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine. Standing 5-foot-11 and weighing 188 pounds, Ruggs obviously possesses blazing speed. He can fit into a variety of NFL offenses and has often been compared to Tyreek Hill.

In 12 games for Alabama in 2019, Ruggs finished with 746 yards and 7 touchdowns on 40 total hauls. Remember, he also played alongside another projected first-round wide receiver talent, Jerry Jeudy.

In terms of the Jets decision, it should be a no contest. For far too long, this offensive line has been ignored. That, combined with the idea this wideout class is loaded and the second-tier offensive tackle position might not be there in the second or third round, Joe Douglas has to go tackle at No. 11 (assuming one of the big four are available).

Admittedly, the thought of Mekhi Becton scares me a bit. A much bigger kid than the other three, he’s still incredibly raw.

In any event, this is just one of the many reports that will fly in from now until next week’s NFL Draft. Take every bit of information with a grain of salt.
