No matter the level of rookie hoopla, the National Football League show must go on. This is why the New York Jets executed a couple of transactions following the conclusion of rookie minicamp.

With Jets fandom currently preoccupied with fourth-round rookie Cade Klubnik, general manager Darren Mougey and company signed a linebacker and an offensive lineman, while shedding an edge defender and a wide receiver.

On Monday, New York signed Virginia Tech linebacker Jaden Keller and released edge defender Ochaun Mathis, per the Jets’ official website.

Keller, a 6-foot-3, 235-pound linebacker who’s often listed at a lighter weight, played second-level backer for the Hokies in 2025.

Playing in 11 games this past season, Keller totaled 50 tackles (22 solo), 2.5 tackles for loss, 0.5 sacks, and a forced fumble. In 2024, however, the back of Keller’s football card looks much more productive: 83 tackles, 35 of which were of the solo variety.

Keller was one of the two tryout invitees to do enough to catch the eye of Aaron Glenn and company. The second of the two referenced transactions comes in the form of offensive lineman Landon Young, whom the Jets signed on Sunday.

Young, 28, is a much older invitee. The sixth-round draft choice by the New Orleans Saints in 2021 dressed in 16 games for the same team last season.

The offensive tackle out of Kentucky adds another body to a room that’s currently short on depth. Behind starters Olu Fashanu and Armand Membou, only Max Mitchell and Chuma Okorafor constitute reliable reserves.

To make room for Young, the Jets cut wide receiver Mac Dalena.
