According to FOX Sports’ Andy Slater, New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith was investigated for alleged battery on Sunday, but the case is no longer open.
Slater noted that law enforcement arrived at Smith’s home after being called, but after investigating, they left without making any arrests.
“It is not an active case, but it is still being reviewed before (a report) can be released,” a spokesperson for the Davies police department in Davies, Florida, told ESPN’s Rich Cimini regarding the situation.
On Sunday, a woman took to her Instagram story to accuse the quarterback of attacking her and neglecting his child.
“Today is the DAY! GENO SMITH beat my ass cause he HATES taking care of his special needs kid and can’t be left alone with him because he’d rather watch s*x online and play Call of Duty,” she wrote.
Smith, 35, was traded to the Jets in March from the Las Vegas Raiders alongside a 2027 seventh-round pick in exchange for a 2027 sixth-round selection.
The 35-year-old is looking to get back on the right track with Gang Green in 2026, the organization that drafted him, after a rough 2025 campaign in which he led the Raiders to just two wins and topped the NFL in interceptions with 17.
It appears this incident took place two days after the Jets concluded mandatory minicamp on Friday. Smith and his teammates now have roughly a month off before training camp practices kick off on July 29.
Per Cimini, the Jets have declined to comment on the situation.
