It doesn’t appear that the New York Jets are satisfied with their quarterback situation beyond Cade Klubnik.

While head coach Aaron Glenn announced that the fourth-round rookie, Klubnik, will be the team’s QB2 behind Geno Smith, the team is perhaps looking to add another signal-caller to the practice squad.

According to Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic, the Jets hosted quarterbacks Will Levis and Jack Plummer for workouts. He added that the role would be for a spot on the practice squad.

Bailey Zappe is the lone QB Gang Green currently has on their practice squad. After losing the QB2 battle, they chose to retain him.

Levis, 27, is an intriguing option. He lost the Tennessee Titans’ QB2 battle to Mitchell Trubisky after a rough preseason in which he completed 53.8% of his passes for 200 yards (5.1 yards per attempt), no touchdowns, and no interceptions.

The former second-round pick went unclaimed on waivers and is currently free to sign with any team, hence his reported workout with the Jets. Throughout 21 career starts, he owns a 5-16 record while completing 61% of his passes for 3,899 yards (7.0 yards per attempt), 21 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions.

Levis has the ideal size for an NFL QB at 6-foot-4 and 229 pounds, with a very strong arm. His numbers would be competent for a backup. Perhaps he just needs a change of scenery to make it work.

If signed, Levis could help the Jets figure out their Week 1 opponent, the Titans, with whom he spent all offseason. He could share his knowledge of Tennessee’s new offense under coordinator Brian Daboll.

Plummer, 26, on the other hand, doesn’t have as much NFL experience. He spent the 2025 summer with the Carolina Panthers before being waived as part of roster cuts and signing back to the practice squad.

Throughout last preseason, Plummer completed 60.5% of his passes for 210 yards (5.5 YPA), one touchdown, and three interceptions.

In January, he signed with the Orlando Storm of the UFL. He ended up leading the league in passing yards with 2,188and ranked second in the UFL in touchdown passes with 17. Plummer was named the league’s MVP.

While the Jets claim to be set at QB2, today’s reported workouts certainly indicate they are not done looking for help behind Klubnik.
