New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold reveals his favorite pregame song, one that he’s been loyal to since his college days.
Pregame rituals have always existed in sports. For instance, Baseball Hall of Fame third baseman Wade Boggs ate fried chicken before every game. (He also indulged in a few six-packs from time to time, as well; but that’s another story for a different time.)
In any event, superstitions have always played a huge part in sports.
New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold probably agrees. The USC product—while quarantined—unveiled the pregame song he must listen to prior to hitting the field for the day.

Darnold’s choice? “15th And The 1st” by Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka, featuring YG Hootie.
The two-year pro revealed he’s been on the song since his college days, which mans sense considering this tune has been around for a bit.
Darnold, 22, is prepping for his third NFL season, one in which Joe Douglas is looking to make easier for the kid. His first two seasons haven’t come easy. From a foot injury his rookie season to mono last year, the kid has run for his life at times due to the poor five-man unit in front of him.
The Jets are looking to change that. On a Wednesday conference call, not only did Douglas reveal a promise he made to Darnold’s parents, but he also made it clear he’s not done adding to the offensive line.
“I think we still have a lot to do in both those regards moving forward,” Douglas said. “I think we’ve done our best to attack some of the issues that we had in the past… That’s our focus, doing everything we can to help Sam succeed. The one thing that we didn’t want, we didn’t want a situation where Sam was just going to have to be under fire all the time with protection issues.”
Sam Darnold’s pregame activities will feel a lot better if he knows those big heavies in front of him are ready to roll.
