According to recent reports, the Washington Redskins are discussing a possible Trent Williams trade, but the New York Jets aren’t involved.

Finally, legitimate news surrounding Trent Williams has emerged, yet, interestingly, it means very little for the New York Jets odds at landing the Pro Bowl tackle.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Redskins have discussed the possible trade of Williams with multiple teams.

Rapoport asked, “With one big trade done and final, could another one be on the way?” “Redskins have talked to multiple teams about a potential trade of LT Trent Williams, sources say. With the NFL Draft a day away, and a physical necessary, the clock is ticking.”

Julie Donaldson of NBC News Washington takes it a step further and involves the Jets, claiming it’s “highly unlikely” Joe Douglas and his front office boys will be in on the Trent Williams action.

“There are definite discussions going on with the Cleveland Browns regarding trading Trent Williams,” via Donaldson. “Highly unlikely the Jets would be involved. Stay tuned folks.”

Williams, 31, sat out the entire 2019 season after vowing to never play for the Redskins again after he felt the organization’s medical staff neglected a prior condition. He did so after qualifying for seven-straight Pro Bowls.

Due to the obvious need outside in the trenches, the Jets have long been rumored as a possible landing spot for the oft-injured yet stellar Williams.

It appears as though Douglas isn’t even in on the Williams discussions, which makes sense considering this depth chart needs as much depth as possible. Relenting assets for any 31-year-old player would be a tough move.

With a little over 24 hours to go before the 2020 NFL draft, the New York Jets offensive tackles are led by newcomer George Fant and second-year third-round selection Chuma Edoga.
