On Monday, the New York Jets signed Mekhi Becton, Jabari Zuniga, James Morgan and Braden Mann to rookie contracts.
The Big Ticket is in Northern New Jersey. We know this thanks to a tweet sent by the enthusiastic and positive young man who boasted about his whereabouts on Monday via Twitter.

And now, one day prior to the rookie reporting date for NFL training camps, the kid who tweeted from Newark, NJ (or close to the area at least) has been signed, sealed and delivered. The New York Jets and Mekhi Becton have agreed to a rookie deal, per Ethan Greenberg of the team’s official website.

It’s a four-year, fully-guaranteed $18.45 million deal for the 11th pick in the 2020 NFL draft, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Sam Darnold is undoubtedly the happiest man who dons Gotham Green (other than Becton himself, of course). Equipped with one of the worst offensive lines in football each of his first two seasons in the league, the Jets young signal-caller should receive a major boost in play up front this coming season.
Joe Douglas‘ relentless attitude in acquiring offensive linemen over the last calendar year has led to a complete revamp of the unit and plenty of competition to go around this summer. The former offensive lineman immediately knew the neglect in the big heavy area was something no franchise could overcome. Becton represents the team’s first first-round O-line selection since Nick Mangold and D’Brickashaw Ferguson in 2006.
Becton signing on the dotted line would have categorized this Monday as big, but that wasn’t nearly all that transpired. He was the fourth of four rookies to agree to a contract on this day.
First, sixth-round rookie Braden Mann put pen to paper on a four-year, $3.47 million deal, first reported by Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News. Next in line was fourth-round rookie quarterback James Morgan and then third-round edge man Jabari Zuniga.

Considering Denzel Mims, La’Mical Perine, Cameron Clark and Bryce Hall had already agreed to deals, the lone unsigned rookie (1 of 9) is the team’s other third-round choice, safety Ashtyn Davis out of Cal.
