The New York Jets’ Friday injury report details second-round Denzel Mims injuring his other hamstring ahead of the Buffalo Bills game.
FLORHAM PARK, NJ—Second-round selection Denzel Mims has injured his other hamstring.
Prior to Friday practice, New York Jets head coach Adam Gase provided an updated injury report that surprisingly listed the Baylor product as “out” for practice. He joins fellow rookie La’Mical Perine and Avery Williamson as the guys who will sit this one out.
Mims’s status for Sunday’s Week 1 game in Orchard Park is in serious doubt. In all likelihood, he will not suit up.
Perine, Williamson and Mims will not participate today.

“I feel like sh*t for him,” Gase told the media. “I hated seeing him go through that.”
After coming back from a hammy that kept him out all camp, Mims has now hurt the other one, and the possibility of an IR stint is not out of the question, per Gase.
Williamson missing practice is another huge blow. As of now, Neville Hewitt and Blake Cashman will have to man down the middle. Perine continues to run on the side but is not yet ready to return.
The positive news comes in the form of safety Marcus Maye, who returns to practice Friday on a limited basis. He and Flacco will represent the limited participants.
If Mims misses Sunday’s action, expect Braxton Berrios or Chris Hogan to elevate into a starting role in 11 personnel alongside Breshad Perriman and Jamison Crowder. With Perriman back, all is not lost for Sam Darnold. The kid quarterback needs at least one of those big targets on the outside to maintain balance in the passing game.
