The New York Jets have elevated quarterback Mike White and cornerback Lamar Jackson from the practice squad for Week 5.
The Alec Ogletree era has officially ended. Somewhere, the sound of “Taps” can faintly be heard. On Saturday, the New York Jets made a bevy of transactions, which includes Ogletree’s release.
Ogletree and wide receiver Josh Malone were released in order to make room for the returning Le’Veon Bell, who has officially been activated off of IR, and offensive lineman Jimmy Murray, who’s been signed to the active roster.
We’ve activated RB Le’Veon Bell off IR, signed OL Jimmy Murray to the active roster and elevated QB Mike White and DB Lamar Jackson from the practice squad.
Additionally, we’ve released LB Alec Ogletree and WR Josh Malone.

Bell, 28, has missed the last three games thanks to a hamstring injury sustained in Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills. His return should help Joe Flacco, the man replacing the struggling Sam Darnold.
Murray’s activation is required due to Mekhi Becton‘s probable absence. Still dealing with a shoulder injury, Becton is officially listed as questionable for Sunday.
Quarterback Mike White and cornerback Lamar Jackson are the two practice squad players to get the nod this week.
Jackson was promoted from the practice squad for last week’s game against the Denver Broncos. This means the Jets cannot elevate him again the rest of the way. They’ll have to outright sign him to the active roster in order to get him on the field.
As far as White is concerned, he served as Darnold’s backup the first three weeks of the season, prior to his release when Flacco returned. He has since been re-signed to the practice squad and gets the elevation nod this specific week.
The (still) banged-up New York Jets will kick-off against the Arizona Cardinals Sunday at 1 p.m. ET from MetLife Stadium.
