Robert Saleh adds two more coaches to Jets staff, Miles Austin and Taylor Embree (Report)

New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh is rounding out his coaching staff, this time adding Miles Austin and Taylor Embree.

The New York Jets made it official early Tuesday afternoon: Robert Saleh has been named the 20th head coach in franchise history.

All that means is there’s a lot of work to be done. And on the same day the Jets made it official, Saleh has reportedly added a couple of names to his coaching staff.

Saleh will hire Miles Austin as wide receivers coach and Taylor Embree as running backs coach, per NFL Network’s Peter Schrager.

Austin, 36, is most known for his playing days in Dallas. The Summit, NJ native attended Garfield High School and Monmouth University prior to exploding on the scene with the Cowboys.

The undrafted free agent tallied 1,320 yards and 11 touchdowns on 81 receptions in 2009 with Tony Romo slinging him the ball. After a second-straight Pro Bowl nod in 2010, Austin’s playing career slowly faded, prompting him to get into coaching.

In 2017, the Cowboys hired Austin as a pro and college scouting intern. Two years later, the San Francisco 49ers brought him on as an offensive quality control coach. Austin departed from the position shortly after the team’s Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Embree, 32, played college ball at UCLA. After working three years with Saleh in San Francisco as an offensive quality control coach, Embree served as Colorado’s tight ends coach this past season.

Along with the reported hires on Monday—Mike LaFleur, John Benton, Greg Knapp and Rob Calabrese—Saleh’s offensive coaching staff is beginning to take shape.
