The Broadway Jets team decides to take the 2021 NY Jets on “The Oregon Trail” as well as recap the weekly happenings on Twitter.

This article is mostly satirical in nature. I mean, come on … it’s NYJ Matt and NYJ Mike. The sky wouldn’t be blue and the grass green if satire wasn’t the name of this specific game.

If you are an alive person who was once a younger person, there is a good chance you’re familiar with the classic computer game Oregon Trail.

If you are an alive person who hasn’t gotten a chance to play this gem of a game, the basic premise is to take five people in 1848 all the way across the country in a wagon, ultimately to arrive at the gold mines in Oregon. There are a plethora of decisions/obstacles along the way, making for a fun and interactive gameplay experience.

New York Jets Twitter disrupters NYJ Matt and NYJ Mike were curious if the current team could make it all the way across the continental U.S. in a wagon in 1848, so we decided to take matters into our own hands and find out. We selected the following players/personnel to embark on this epic journey:

  • Robert Saleh
  • Woody Johnson
  • Zach Wilson
  • Mekhi Becton
  • Quinnen Williams

What happened next was nothing short of incredible, as the boys did their absolute best to trek across the country.

We started the process in July – just like training camp – and went through the Jets 2021 schedule as we made our way west. I hate when my girlfriend spoils shows and movies, so I’ll avoid hypocritical status by not diving into any more detail.

Just know this: Last year, Matt and I played “The Trail” (that’s what the kids call it) with Becton, Quinnen, Adam Gase, Sam Darnold and Denzel Mims … and it went very poorly. Matt couldn’t figure out how to hunt for food, Darnold found himself bitten by a snake, Quinnen got lost, Becton got ahold of some wild fruit and got sick, and eventually, everybody died – an accurate representation of the 2020 season.

Will the 2021 version be an omen or a good sign for the season to come? Below is the latest episode of the Broadway Jets podcast where you can find out.

Broadway Jets’ social media recap

ICYMI, there has been no shortage of Twitter excitement over the past week or so.

NYJ Matt poked fun at uncredentialled sources on Twitter while using the purest form of satire insinuating that Adam Gase would become the OC at the High School in his hometown

…to which the High School responded

The Jets were rightfully nominated for Jeremy Kerley (11) Emmys. One quick glance at their recent docuseries, Flight 2021: An Offseason with the New York Jets makes that abundantly clear.

Jets fans debated whether Denzel Mims or Elijah Moore would end up with more career receiving yards.

Matt also purposefully excluded collegiate basketball player George Fant in his hypothetical Jets starting five to include him as the sixth man.

Rightfully so, Mekhi Becton corrected the intentional mistake and had some fun with this.

Check out Geoff Magliocchetti’s article covering the Becton/Fant interaction. No matter the starting lineup, the Jets hypothetical hoops squad can ball.

Former Jet Demaryius Thomas retired, and we were reminded of the hilarious hustle of Deandre Baker.

The Jets bolstered their offensive line by signing PFF’s sixth-ranked right tackle in 2020, Morgan Moses.

The Moses memes came in a hurry once the reported signing hit Jets Twitter.

NY Jets Commenter created this awesome visual of 50% of the Jets’ Michael Carters.

Matt had some fun with his now-famous three-month-old son.

Michael Nania continued to take his reply game to the next level.

Elijah Moore reminded me of a former Jet.

Mark Sanchez sang to some people while stuck in an elevator.

Carl Lawson enjoyed some Broadway Jets content.

The Jets did a terrific job with their production of Flight 2021.
