Zach Wilson gifted a waitress two tickets to the New York Jets-Jacksonville Jaguars Week 16 game on Christmas morning.
On Christmas morning, New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson and his family ate breakfast at The Ritz Diner in Livingston, NJ, per Wilson’s mom’s Instagram Story, @lifeaccording2lisa.
As the rookie dug into his meal, a waitress recognized Wilson as a player for her son’s favorite team. She quickly asked him for a picture and his autograph, but Wilson didn’t leave it at that.
Before leaving the restaurant, he asked the waitress if she and her son would like tickets to Sunday’s game vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars.
“Oh my god! I gotta call him,” she said in response.
Near tears, the waitress told her son the news. “He’s giving you tickets to go to the game tomorrow!”
She told @ZachWilson her son is a massive #Jets fan, so he gave her 2 tickets to tomorrow’s game. Awesome stuff. @nyjets pic.twitter.com/ty5FmaQDv7

“He’s a Jets fan like crazy,” said the waitress about her son.
Wilson faced some scrutiny for a questionable response to a question during the postgame press conference after Week 15’s loss to the Miami Dolphins. Some on the Jets beat even called into question his inexperience off the field.
While Wilson certainly has a lot left to prove out on the football field, he has undeniably showcased his leadership and positive impact off of it—even if he is inexperienced in a major media market like New York.
Back at Brigham Young University, Wilson would visit sick fans to wish them well and offer encouragement—and that hasn’t changed despite his new home across the country.

Just a few weeks ago, Wilson sported custom cleats honoring Goryeb Children’s Hospital in Morristown, NJ, as well as the Athletic Health System for the “My Cause, My Cleats” campaign.
To display the importance of his off the field acts of service, Wilson shared the following heartwarming tweet:
The kids that I’ve met are going through such intense battles that it can make football seem inconsequential sometimes. But knowing I’m capable of putting a smile on someone’s face and lightening their load even temporarily is something I’m immensely proud of.

When it comes down to it, the simple act of gifting tickets to a fan and his mother is just another example that demonstrates who Zach Wilson is.
… someone that fans and the community can proudly support as he navigates his way through life as a young NFL quarterback.

He might as well give them away. Who would actually pay money to watch the Jets lose again? You really screwed the pooch when you drafted that loser Wilson. But I’m sure Chicago and New England are grateful that you passed on Fields and Jones. Nice job. 😂
