The New York Jets’ 2022 rookies make their Florham Park debuts

The New York Jets‘ 2022 rookie class reported to the team facility in Florham Park, New Jersey, for the first practice of rookie minicamp on Friday, May 6.

In a video shared by the Jets’ official Twitter account, we see the seven players chosen by general manager Joe Douglas in his third draft class. Sauce Gardner, Garrett Wilson, Jermaine Johnson, and the rest of the newcomers suit up in green for the first time before taking the field for an indoor practice.

A few of the rookies spoke to the media after their first professional practice.

Gardner talked about his admiration for former Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis and said he looks forward to meeting him at some point.

“He was a great player, I enjoyed watching him,” Gardner said. “I haven’t been able to meet him yet but that’s on my bucket list. I’ve talked to some people in the organization and we’re getting that handled right now.”

Running back Breece Hall mentioned Michael Carter, Quinnen Williams, and D.J. Reed as a few of the veteran players he has gotten in touch with since joining the team.

Edge rusher Micheal Clemons had a hilarious response when asked if any team had spoken to him about playing offensive tackle, jokingly getting into a left tackle’s stance on the podium.

Tight end Jeremy Ruckert, who grew up as a Jets fan in Lindenhurst, New York, described it as “surreal” to put on a Jets helmet and jersey for the first time.

The Jets’ rookie minicamp will conclude on Monday, May 9.
