The Jets have brought in a four-digit rusher from the Jaguars
The New York Jets‘ quest to fill the offense lost by Breece Hall‘s injury is underway.
Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Jets are set to bring in former Jacksonville Jaguars running back James Robinson after head coach Robert Saleh confirmed that the rookie rushing sensation Hall would miss the remainder of the season with a torn ACL. ESPN’s Adam Schefter had the compensation, which is currently a conditional sixth-rounder with the potential to become a fifth.
Another comp update: The conditional 6th-round pick that the Jets traded to the Jaguars for James Robinson will become a 5th-round pick if the RB rushes for 600 yards this season, per source. Robinson already has rushed for 340 yards and needs 260 more for the 6th to be a 5th.

New York (5-2) thus has an accomplished name to add to their running back room while Hall heals, joining Michael Carter and Ty Johnson on the active roster. Despite going undrafted in the 2020 selections out of Illinois State, Robinson made a name for himself as the surprising top rushing option for the Jaguars. He established himself as a dual threat, picking up 2,403 yards and 18 touchdowns. That output included a 1,070-yard season on the ground during his debut campaign.
Robinson began to lose his grasp on the top rushing duties upon the return of 2021 first-round choice Travis Etienne, despite picking up 230 yards on 51 carries over the first three weeks, which concluded with a 100-yard day in a win over the Los Angeles Chargers. The end of the North Florida line for Robinson came on Sunday, when he appeared on only 12 snaps of the Jaguars’ narrow loss to the New York Giants.
Robinson had 767 yards last season before his year ended prematurely, ironically enough, at MetLife Stadium, where he tore his ACL during a loss to the Jets last December.
Whether Robinson suits up remains to be seen, but the Jets return to action on Sunday afternoon when they resume divisional play against the New England Patriots at MetLife Stadium (1 p.m. ET, CBS).
