Michael Carter highlights the best prop bets for New York Jets vs. New England Patriots

The New York Jets are trying for their fifth straight win as they prepare to host the New England Patriots at MetLife Stadium on Sunday. The Jets head back home after another road win, beating the Denver Broncos 16-9, while the Patriots travel to North Jersey after getting thumped by the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football.

Let’s take a look at some of the best prop bets for Sunday’s divisional matchup.

Michael Carter anytime touchdown (+135)

After standout rookie Breece Hall went down with a torn ACL, running back Michael Carter is set to become the lead back. I expect him to get most of the carries this week as newly acquired running back James Robinson gets acclimated to the offense.

Michael Carter only has 228 rushing yards on 66 carries this season for an average of 3.5 yards per carry. This is slightly underwhelming for Carter, but it is a relatively small sample size. In 14 games last year, he had 147 rushes for 639 yards with 4.3 yards per carry.

Carter is a quality running back in the NFL and I expect him to have a big game with Hall out. He will get most of the touches around the goal line and should find a way to get in the end zone.

Zach Wilson to throw an interception (-158)

Zach Wilson’s rookie season was filled with many ups and downs. He played probably his worst game as a professional quarterback in Week 2 against Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots, when he went 19-of-33 for 210 yards and 4 interceptions.

Bill Belichick terrorizes young quarterbacks into making mistakes. Wilson threw almost half of his total interceptions last season in one game against Belichick.

The Patriots have shown good ball-hawking ability yet again in 2022, as they are tied for seventh in the NFL with seven interceptions.

With the Jets’ main focal point out for the season in Hall, Wilson is likely going to have to throw the ball more often if this Jets team wants to win. This could lead to him getting into trouble and throwing at least one interception come Sunday.

Garret Wilson receiving yards: Under 38.5 (-114)

Belichick has made a living on defense by taking away the opposition’s most explosive target. In my opinion, for the Jets, that is Garrett Wilson at this point in the season.

Wilson has had a nice rookie season so far, highlighted by an epic performance against the Cleveland Browns where he had eight receptions for 102 yards and two touchdowns. On the season, the Ohio State product has 28 receptions for 314 yards with 11.2 yards per catch.

With Corey Davis set to miss the game, I expect the Patriots to focus on Wilson, making it difficult for him to produce a lot of big plays. I anticipate his yards total to stay under.
