Could the New York Jets go after Aaron Rodgers in the 2023 offseason?
Strap yourselves in, folks. It’s going to be that kind of offseason for the New York Jets. If there’s a quarterback with a pulse who might become available, he is going to be linked to the Jets.
The latest name to be tossed into the Jets’ hat is Aaron Rodgers. Under the nationally televised lights of Sunday Night Football, Rodgers and the Packers were eliminated from the playoffs with a 20-16 home loss to the Detroit Lions in the NFL’s regular-season finale.
Once the game concluded, the nation collectively got strong vibes that Rodgers had just played his last game at Lambeau Field. Rodgers took his time to exit the field and appeared to be soaking in the environment. As he entered the tunnel, Rodgers and longtime friend/teammate Randall Cobb walked together while embracing.

But nothing seemed more ominous than this post-game moment between Rodgers and Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams:
Jameson Williams asked Aaron Rodgers for his jersey after the game.
Aaron's response: “I’m gonna hold on to this one.”

Williams requested to do a jersey swap with Rodgers, but Rodgers declined by saying, “I’m gonna hold on to this one.”
Interesting.

Naturally, with the Jets poised to be one of the NFL’s biggest players in the veteran quarterback market, many fans began linking Rodgers to New York. Even FanDuel’s official Twitter account pondered whether the Jets should pursue the four-time MVP.

It would not be the first time New York acquired a former Super Bowl-winning Packers quarterback at the tail-end of his career. In 2009, Brett Favre joined the Jets at age 39. Rodgers just turned 39 in December.
The most difficult aspect of a Rodgers trade would be his contract. Last March, Rodgers signed a three-year, $150 million deal with $101.4 million in fully guaranteed money.
