Garrett vs. Sauce is truly strength against strength
The New York Jets could very well sweep the Rookie of the Year slate on Thursday night at the NFL Honors ceremony. Such was the elite level of play they received from their top two picks in the 2022 NFL Draft, Sauce Gardner and Garrett Wilson.
Who’s better, though?
According to Wilson, Sauce won most of their battles in rookie minicamp. However, those were not usually one-on-one, and he’s looking forward to a rematch after a year of studying Sauce’s film.
Wilson mentioned that Sauce talks a lot of trash, to which Garrett is no stranger in his own right. Kay Adams asked him to do a Sauce trash talk impression; Wilson replied, “Trenches!”
That drew a reaction out of Sauce on Twitter.

These are two of the best young players in the NFL. Sauce has already established himself as one of the top corners in the league. Wilson can join him in the top tier at receiver with better quarterback play; Breece Hall already liked a tweet saying that Aaron Rodgers could turn Wilson into Davante Adams, which is a high ceiling, indeed. But Wilson is that good.
Still, Garrett can sharpen his lightning-quick footwork and refine his technique facing a cornerback who seems to know exactly what the receiver is going to do at all times. Sauce combines excellent instincts, extensive film study and preparation, and tremendous confidence to get into the heads of the NFL’s best.
This is a storyline that we’ll be monitoring into May and June.
Who’s better, Jets fans: Sauce or Garrett?
