No. 1 Overall Pick Odds
Player | Position-School | No. 1 Pick 2023 NFL Draft bet365 Odds |
|
---|---|---|---|
1. Bryce Young | QB-Alabama | 💰 -150 to go No. 1 Overall | |
2. C.J. Stroud | QB-Ohio State | 💰 +225 to go No. 1 Overall | |
3. Will Levis | QB-Kentucky | 💰 +600 to go No. 1 Overall | |
T4. Jalen Carter | IDL-Georgia | 💰 +700 to go No. 1 Overall | |
T4. Anthony Richardson | QB-Florida | 💰 +700 to go No. 1 Overall | |
6. Will Anderson Jr. | EDGE-Alabama | 💰 +1200 to go No. 1 Overall |
bet365 is slightly more bullish on C.J. Stroud than some other sportsbooks, listing him at +225 for the No. 1 overall pick following the favorite, Bryce Young (-150). Will Levis and Anthony Richardson are tied at +600, an astonishing leap for Richardson.
bet365 oddsmakers seem to think Jalen Carter has a significant edge over Will Anderson in the No. 1 pick odds, listing the former at +800 and the latter at +1200. This will only happen if the Chicago Bears stand pat at the No. 1 slot and decide to retain Justin Fields.
I find this scenario highly unlikely unless their general manager (Ryan Poles) is completely incompetent. Chicago can trade back a few slots and still nab Carter or Anderson.
I’d still take the odds on Young for now, but I can see a situation in which Richardson leapfrogs him after the Combine.
First QB Taken
This is essentially a question of who the No. 1 overall pick will be. Young is at -160, Stroud +200, Levis, +500, and Richardson +600.
First WR Taken
This pick is a lot trickier. Quentin Johnson is the favorite at +140, but Jordan Addison is not too far behind at +200. Jaxon Smith-Njigba has +250 odds, while Jalin Hyatt (+500) and Zay Flowers (+1000) remain outside choices.
One of the big questions here is about which team will take a receiver. A lot of these guys are small and might at least start in the slot. Teams that need a bigger receiver might try to trade back.
It’ll be interesting to see how this year’s receiver class breaks down after a fascinating run on WRs in the first round of the 2022 draft. Drake London (No. 8), Garrett Wilson (10), Chris Olave (trade up to 11), Jameson Williams (12), Jahan Dotson (16), and Treylon Burks (18) all went in the top 20.
Wilson, Olave, and London, in particular, had strong rookie seasons, while Christian Watson (No. 34) flashed the talent that made him a high-ceiling second-round pick for the Packers.
The 2023 crop does not seem to have the same high-end explosiveness, but great receivers can often come out of nowhere.
First Defensive Player Taken
This seems to be a showdown between Will Anderson and Jalen Carter. Carter is the favorite at -110, while Anderson is +125. A team who gets either one will be acquiring a stalwart at the NFL level.
The Jets know what it’s like to have a top-3 defensive lineman explode, as Quinnen Williams finally showed his limitless potential in Year 4 in the NFL. Perhaps Carter and Anderson will figure it out more quickly at the next level.
Whatever bet floats your boat, head on over to bet365, create your account, and grab the $200 bonus while you’re at it.
