Quincy Williams found out about his contract with the New York Jets in a crazy way

The New York Jets are bringing back one of their own. He found out in a most interesting way.

Quincy Williams, the linebacker claimed off waivers from the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2021, signed a three-year, $18 million deal to remain with the Jets.

When his agent called to let him know, though, Williams was at his best friend’s bachelor party. That left the question of where he was going to take the call up to chance.

His friend found just the space: a large refrigerator. That made Williams quite literally “chilled” when he learned that he made buck with the Jets.

Watch Williams’s full interview with Jets reporter Caroline Hendershot here, where he tells the story and explains why he chose to return to New York rather than test the free-agent market.

After signing the deal, Quincy had a short message for Jets fans.

Williams joined C.J. Mosley with over 100 tackles in back-to-back seasons. He is known for his highlight-reel hard-hits and missile speed in locating a ball carrier. Cutting down on his mental mistakes in the running game increased his effectiveness in 2022, although he could still use a lot of work in coverage. Williams appears to still have room for growth as a player, even at age 27 and after four NFL seasons.

The Jets hope that they can have similarly smooth contract negotiations with Quincy’s younger brother, Quinnen, locking up the Williams duo for the foreseeable future. The pair will keep opponents on ice for a long time.
