Zach Wilson reviewed Utah’s offense before his younger brother Isaac committed to the Utes
Isaac Wilson’s commitment to Utah was a pretty big deal locally. As a four-star recruit and the No. 2 player in the state, it was a huge get for Kyle Whittingham and the Pac-12 program.
The commitment came as somewhat of a surprise. All three of his older brothers attended BYU, so the Cougars were tipped to have the inside track on the likes of Utah, Arizona and Arizona State.
But if Utah wants to send thank you cards, they probably need to post one to 1 Jets Drive. In an interview with Deseret News, Isaac confirmed that Zach looked over the offense presented by Utah offensive coordinator Andy Ludwig.
“We had Zach come down — my brother — and look over the offense that (Andy) Ludwig has, and all that,” Isaac said. “And he said it is probably one of the best and closest offenses he’s seen to the NFL that we visited. And he just loved it.
“So we got the approval from Zach and after that, I just made the decision. Utah is a great school, really competitive, and everything you would want.”
Although all three of his older brothers attended BYU, his dad Mike Wilson played defensive line for the Utes in 1993-94 and his family still has season tickets for Utah.
BYU fans were hoping for the Wilson conveyor to keep churning talent to Provo, but if they were hoping Zach was going to pressure his brother, they were wrong.
“Zach said, ‘Hey dude, you do you. I am not going to push you anywhere. I am going to look over these offenses with you. I am going to help you through it, but I am not going to push you a certain direction,’” Isaac said.
