Joe Klecko wasn’t initially on the New York Jets-Aaron Rodgers train, but he’s changed his opinion
When Joe Klecko was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, interviewers asked him to comment on the current state of his long-time team, the New York Jets.
There was one consistent theme in his response: I don’t want Aaron Rodgers.
“When [Rodgers] didn’t have the perfect arrangement with the receivers and gameplan and line, his attitude is condescending so much to the player,” Klecko opined at the time. “He didn’t wanna come back to the huddle and all.”
Klecko viewed Rodgers as a locker room cancer who would separate himself from his teammates. However, in a recent interview, he changed his tune. He clarified that he never objected to Rodgers as a quarterback since his record speaks for itself. But Klecko has seen a different Rodgers than he was expecting.

“I made a reference to it, because the team I was on, we grew together. That was really a cool thing, because we got along so well. That’s what I was hoping, which [Rodgers] now has shown,” Klecko said. “He’s ingratiated the rest of the team, and he’s out there teaching guys. He’s doing the things that you see a Tom Brady do.”
So far, most media members and fans have been pleasantly surprised at Rodgers’ commitment to integrating with the team and bonding with his teammates. First, he attended almost the entire voluntary portion of the offseason, something he hadn’t done in years with the Packers. He took part in the team-building exercises.
He’s also gone out on the town with Sauce Gardner, Breece Hall, and many of his teammates. He’s never looked happier.
Count Klecko belatedly in.
