Aaron Rodgers welcomes the newest Packers quarterback to Lambeau with a special gift
During his time in Green Bay, a common outside criticism of Aaron Rodgers was that he wasn’t particularly keen on helping other quarterbacks. It’s a similar rumor that followed his predecessor (and another former New York Jets QB) Brett Favre. After all, it’s hard-pressed to find someone that is willing to train someone that is actively going to take their job in the near future.
Yet, throughout his short time in New York, Rodgers has already done plenty to dispel those old criticisms – and he continues to do so in Green Bay, as well.
Sean Clifford, the newest signal caller for the Packers, revealed that the NY Jets quarterback sent him a welcome gift.
Not a bad a house warming gift…thank you! @Fanatics @AaronRodgers12 #GoPackGo pic.twitter.com/CfhyejVOHn

Scribed on the autographed jersey was Rodgers’ well wishes to the Penn State product. He also joked for Clifford to “enjoy his locker”. The 24-year-old rookie certainly has his work cut out for him to fill the shoes of the man who held that locker before him.
Clifford was selected by the Packers in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL draft, 149th overall.
Clifford spent a total of six seasons with the Penn State Nittany Lions, leading them to a Rose Bowl victory in 2022. His 88-yard touchdown pass to KeAndre Lambert-Smith is the longest passing play in Rose Bowl history. Clifford finished his collegiate career amassing a 32-14 record with 10,661 passing yards, 101 total touchdowns and 31 interceptions.
Currently, the Penn State product is listed as the direct backup to starter Jordan Love on the Packers’ unofficial depth chart.
