“The night is darkest before the dawn”, says New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers
For the first time since suffering his season-ending Achilles tear on Monday night, New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers has spoken.
Rodgers took to Instagram with a heartfelt post that also seems to suggest he is eyeing a comeback in 2024.

“Thank you to every person that has reached out, called, texted, DM’d, connected through a friend, etc.,” Rodgers wrote. “It has meant a ton to me, and I’ll try and get back to all of you soon.”
Continuing, Rodgers wrote, “I’m completely heartbroken and moving through all of the emotions, but deeply touched and humbled by the support and love. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I begin the healing process today.”
Rodgers concluded his statement with a hopeful outlook toward the future, writing, “The night is darkest before the dawn. And I shall rise yet again.”
Rodgers is still under contract with the Jets through 2025. According to Spotrac, Rodgers is scheduled to have a cap hit of $17.16 million in 2024 and $51.5 million in 2025. There are also three void years tacked onto his contract after 2025, totaling $56 million.
For now, the Jets are Zach Wilson’s team. Head coach Robert Saleh has stated that the team will explore options for a third quarterback on the roster, but the plan is for Wilson to start going forward.
Wilson will make his 2023 starting debut next Sunday against a Dallas Cowboys defense that shut out the New York Giants in Week 1.
