According to rapper J. Cole, Colin Kaepernick sent a letter to New York Jets GM Joe Douglas
The New York Jets have already signed Trevor Siemian, but another veteran quarterback appears to be expressing interest in joining the team.
A new Instagram post from famous hip-hop artist J. Cole revealed that Colin Kaepernick had reached out to the Jets with a desire to join the organization. The post included the entirety of the letter Kaepernick sent to the Jets, which was addressed to general manager Joe Douglas.

Kaepernick, 35, is not reaching out to be the team’s starter. Instead, the former 49ers quarterback said he wants to “lead the practice squad” with “the sole mission of getting your defense ready each week.”
Kaepernick explained that his presence would help the Jets’ defense get “a truer read on the more mobile/athletic/versatile quarterbacks” to prepare for the better ones on the Jets’ schedule. The veteran quarterback specifically mentioned Patrick Mahomes in Week 4, Russell Wilson in Week 5, and Jalen Hurts in Week 6. In addition, he said this would allow the Jets to evaluate him while not putting pressure on Wilson.
Throughout six career seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, Kaepernick appeared in 69 games (58 starts) and threw for 12,271 yards, 72 touchdowns, and 30 interceptions with a passer rating of 88.9 and a completion percentage of 59.8. Kaepernick also rushed for 2,300 yards and 13 touchdowns.
The former second-round pick out of Nevada has not been on an NFL roster since finishing the 2016 season with the 49ers. A large part of this is allegedly due to Kaepernick’s on-field political statements and lawsuit against the NFL in 2017. He has had multiple tryouts over the past few years, but despite his previous accolades, no team elected to sign him.
