Aaron Rodgers thinks he will stay with the New York Jets beyond 2024

2024 will not be the last hurrah for Aaron Rodgers if you take his word.

On his weekly “Pat McAfee Show” appearance, the New York Jets’ quarterback addressed the sentiment that the 2024 NFL season would be his “last dance.”

“I don’t think so,” Rodgers replied when asked if 2024 will be his last year. “I felt like when I came here that I got a renewed passion and love for the game. Everything has been amazing here, from the people I’ve gotten to work with to the relationships I’ve formed with my teammates… I wanted at least two years, and I feel like this year is kind of a lost year,” said Rodgers.

“I don’t think next year will be my last year. With some of the things I’ve learned over the last year, taking care of my body and surrounding myself with some great people helping me with my nutrition and functional training, I feel that I can play for more years. I feel like I can be effective into my forties.”

The quarterback also said he “believes” in the Jets’ leadership and players, saying they need to “reload” instead of rebuilding. He closed his appearance by asking Jets fans to “stick with” the team and promised that “it will be a different conversation” at this time next season.

It is good to see Rodgers remaining highly invested in the Jets despite a lost season. The quarterback seems committed to bringing a winner to New York.

How the Jets proceed this offseason remains to be seen, as there are arguments for the Jets to clean house in addition to arguments to run the same regime back.

If Rodgers is taken at face value, the same group running the Jets currently will be returning for a critical 2024 season. While this seems to be the most likely scenario, there is work to be done on multiple levels.

The future Hall-of-Famer is eager to change the narrative around the Jets, but until substantial changes are made around his offense and overall team, there is plenty of reason to be skeptical of an immediate leap to upper-echelon contender status in 2024.
