Detroit Lions @ Minnesota Vikings

Entering Week 16, the Detroit Lions are sitting pretty at 10-4 and can clinch the NFC North with a win. The Vikings are still in the thick of the playoff hunt at 7-7 even after Kirk Cousins went down with an Achilles tear. They will be heavily motivated as the NFC’s wildcard picture is wide open.

The Vikings defense has quietly been playing very well. In the last five weeks, the Vikings have allowed only 15.9 points per game. I think this unit matches up very well with the Lions and they should be able to neutralize the run game and keep Detroit one-dimensional.

Just like we have been doing the last few weeks, we will continue riding teams with their backs to the wall. The Vikings are fighting for their playoff lives and will be the more desperate team. With the Rams winning Thursday night, Minnesota needs to win this game to stay in the hunt down the stretch.

I like the Vikings to keep this game close and maybe win in their home stadium.

The play: Minnesota Vikings +3

Dallas Cowboys @ Miami Dolphins

Week 16 features a few marquee matchups, but none are bigger than this game. With these two teams sitting at 10-4, this game should have a little bit of everything as they are both fighting for the top spot in their respective divisions.

The Dallas Cowboys come into this game after getting demolished in Buffalo by 21 points. It was 31-3 in the fourth quarter before the Cowboys scored a garbage-time touchdown to make it more respectable. Meanwhile, the Miami Dolphins beat up on the Jets 30-0 in a game that was never close.

I like this spot for the Cowboys this week. Especially after last week’s thumping, I think the Cowboys will be ready to play. Also, Dallas is one of the few teams that can stay with Miami offensively and I think they will be able to move the ball well on Miami’s defense.

I expect the Cowboys pass rush to be able to make their mark in this game. The Dolphins are banged up everywhere but especially on their offensive line and that is not a recipe for success against this Dallas front seven.

I think the Cowboys go down to South Florida and come home with a massive win.

The play: Dallas Cowboys +2.5
