The New York Jets’ veteran punter gave Mecole Hardman an RKO out of nowhere

Mecole Hardman took numerous shots at the New York Jets in a lengthy rant on “The Pivot Podcast.” Not only could his comments cost the Chiefs a draft pick due to his reveal of potential tampering, but now Hardman has found himself getting dunked on by a punter.

Jets punter Thomas Morstead took to Twitter and indirectly fired back at the 25-year-old wideout, essentially calling him entitled.

“Be careful getting information from disgruntled former employees. Getting beat out by a rookie free agent after being guaranteed millions of dollars is tough to deal with. Entitlement is a killer of opportunity. You have to earn it every year.”

Jets fans and media wondered why Hardman was being buried in the Jets’ offense early in the season, but according to Morstead, Hardman was simply beat out by undrafted rookie Xavier Gipson, causing the lack of playing time. Morstead chastised Hardman for his entitlement after being guaranteed a hefty amount of money in the offseason. The 15th-year veteran reiterated the importance of earning your role every year, something he knows well after bouncing around between different teams in recent years.

From the Jets’ perspective, it’s reassuring to see a respected veteran like Morstead putting forth a passionate defense of his team. The Jets’ organization and coaching staff have been under incessant fire in recent months, so it is comforting for fans to know that at least one esteemed player cares enough about his employers to defend them in the public eye.
