Joe Douglas lives up to his statement that he wants to be a quarterback factory
Speaking to the media prior to the draft, New York Jets general manager Joe Douglas said he wanted to be a “quarterback factory,” and he stayed true to his words.
To move up 14 spots and get their guy, the Jets traded two sixth-round picks (Nos. 185 and 190) to Philadelphia in exchange for the 171st overall pick (fifth round), which they used to select Florida State quarterback Jordan Travis.
Whole lotta talent joining the QB room.

Travis got off to a scorching start in 2023, leading the Seminoles to an 11-0 record while recording 20 passing touchdowns, 7 rushing touchdowns, 2 interceptions, 8.5 yards per pass attempt, and a 63.9 percent completion rate. Unfortunately, his season came to an end due to a leg fracture, which he has told reporters he expects to return from in May or June.
Travis began his college career at Louisville before transferring to Florida State in 2019. He played five seasons with the Seminoles from 2019-23, ultimately finishing his college career with six seasons of experience under his belt. Travis, who turns 24 in May, played 49 college games and completed 637-of-1,027 passes for 8,715 yards, 66 touchdowns, and 20 interceptions while rushing for 31 touchdowns.
In New York, Travis will be presented with an ideal opportunity to patiently develop as a player. In 2024, he projects as the Jets’ third quarterback behind veterans Aaron Rodgers and Tyrod Taylor, who can each provide Travis with plenty of valuable leadership.
Travis is a former college teammate of Jermaine Johnson at Florida State.
