Can NY Jets’ Qwan’tez Stiggers be a CFL steal?

An all-encompassing look at the New York Jets’ CFL cornerback

Yesterday, we broke down the film of New York Jets rookie running back Isaiah Davis, a relatively unknown prospect since he came out of an FCS school.

If you think it’s tough to dig up footage and info on an FCS prospect, multiply that by two and you get Qwan’tez Stiggers, who made it to the NFL without ever playing a snap of college football.

Stiggers’ path to the NFL is as wild as they come. He earned a scholarship to play Division II football for Lane College but dropped out as a freshman. After a year out of the game, Stiggers then participated in the Fan Controlled Football League, impressing CFL teams and earning a spot on the Toronto Argonauts. One season in the CFL was all Stiggers needed to put himself on the NFL radar, and he was chosen by the Jets in the fifth round of the 2024 draft.

Fans have seen some short highlight reels of Stiggers, but as a cornerback, those videos hardly tell you anything about his game since cornerbacks spend most of their time off-screen on the broadcast view. To really understand a cornerback’s game, you have to dig through his All-22 film, but as a CFL prospect, that type of footage is scarce for Stiggers. Even his statistical resume is limited; CFL games don’t get the same advanced stat tracking that NCAA games do from sites like PFF, so you can’t really judge him off the numbers, either.

Overall, Stiggers is a prospect that most Jets fans still aren’t very familiar with. Today, we’re here to fix that.

In the newest Blewett’s Blitz film review, we break down 24 plays of All-22 film from Stiggers’ 2023 season with the Toronto Argonauts. The review showcases a complete synopsis of both the positives and the negatives in his game, painting a picture of how much development he needs to find a role in the Jets’ defense. Plus, a full list of his strengths and weaknesses can be found at the bottom of the page.

The FULL, member-only Qwan'tez Stiggers film breakdown (24 plays) can be found beneath the YouTube snippet (must be a Jets X-Factor member and logged into the site).
