In a recent interview, Aaron Rodgers expressed how Malachi Corley was his favorite receiver in the 2024 NFL draft class
If he is to be believed, the New York Jets’ starting quarterback got the wide receiver he desired from the 2024 NFL draft.
In an interview with the “Official Jets Podcast,” Aaron Rodgers said that the recently drafted Malachi Corley was “his favorite” receiver prospect.
“He might not have been the best on paper, but I really felt that he would fit in with what we are trying to do with his mindset and ferocity. So, I enjoyed bringing him in.”
It is no secret that the Jets were adamant about adding Corley to their roster in the draft, from their top decision-makers to their quarterback. Rodgers even invited Corley to his guest house earlier this month.
The Western Kentucky product constantly showed explosiveness with the ball in his hands and the toughness to withstand contact, two areas where the Jets needed improvements. Additionally, Corley showed an untapped ceiling as a route runner out of the slot, giving him the potential to become a great long-term complement to a receiver like Garrett Wilson.
Rodgers has worked with countless receivers in his Hall-of-Fame career, so his interest in Corley is significant. The quarterback likely sees flashes of players like Greg Jennings and Randall Cobb in the rookie and knows how vital a player like him could be to the team’s offense.
It may not happen immediately, but the connection between Rodgers and Corley will likely pay dividends in 2024. Once it does, the team’s offense will be able to hit its full stride and potentially help the Jets win plenty of games.
