Jermaine Johnson joined the Jets’ reporters at Garrett Wilson’s OTAs press conference
The New York Jets’ star wide receiver is feeling like himself again.
At his media availability Wednesday, Garrett Wilson spoke about his offseason and his mindset heading into 2024.
“It was zen; it was chill. I feel like I got to get my feet back under me, my head right, and improve on some of the things I wanted to work on before we got back here. Just as far as being a little stronger, playing at a higher weight, and better being when you are called upon.”
Wilson also gave some insight into how he moved past last season, saying that he “disconnected” from football for a little bit and spent time with his loved ones before getting ready for the season.
When Jermaine Johson interjected with a question about changing his jersey number, Wilson responded that he didn’t realize it earlier, but he felt “like myself” again in his college number of five.

The star wideout later spoke about his relationship with quarterback Aaron Rodgers and how it has progressed since last season.
“We are able to have some conversations that we would not have had initially at this time of the year. Those tougher conversations, those ones where we might disagree, where we do agree, where he has his two cents on it, which is the best two cents I’ve heard. It’s been awesome. He’s a resource for me that I can always bounce my thoughts off of, and now I feel more comfortable bringing certain things up,” said Wilson.
It was extremely evident that the Jets’ overall struggles took a toll on Wilson in 2023. The former Ohio State Buckeye is passionate about winning, and while he was productive on the field, the team losing did not make him happy in the slightest.
With a refreshed mindset and an improved team, Wilson seems ready to fully break out as a top-tier weapon in the NFL and help the Jets find the success they lacked last season.
