Does Jeremy Ruckert have the New York Jets’ TE2 spot locked down?
Selected in the third round of the 2022 NFL draft, Long Island native Jeremy Ruckert is a New York Jets fan favorite. With limited reps, the Ohio State product has offered flashes of blocking and receiving skills in his short NFL career.
Ruckert has gradually risen up the Jets’ depth chart. Ruckert was only active for nine games as a rookie, finishing the season with 46 offensive snaps and two targets. In 2023, Ruckert began the year as New York’s TE3 and eventually overtook C.J. Uzomah as the TE2. He finished the season with 15 games played, 310 offensive snaps, and 22 targets. Ruckert caught 16 passes for 151 yards and no touchdowns.
Going into his third season, where is Ruckert in his development? Should he be viewed as the penciled-in TE2 behind Tyler Conklin? Or, could Ruckert be pushed by Kenny Yeboah, who’s been a star in OTAs?
In the latest Blewett’s Blitz film review, we break down 31 plays from Ruckert’s 2023 season to get a feel for what he’s doing well and where he must improve.
