The New York Jets’ veteran backup quarterback purchased a stake in Westchester’s new soccer club
While he is adjusting to a new team in the New York Metro area, quarterback Tyrod Taylor is wasting no time in making an impact on his community.
The New York Jets’ backup quarterback is the newest member of the Westchester Soccer Club’s ownership group. In a press release, Tayor was described as someone who will “bring his fashion-forward vision to WSC’s brand identity” and someone who is “uniquely positioned between sports and culture as a fashion entrepreneur, having launched the luxury brand Diallo with his business partner Dex Robinson in 2023.”
Taylor gave a comment in conjunction with the press release about his ownership stake.
“I am excited to join Westchester Soccer’s ownership group from its founding and help bring the lessons I’ve learned as an NFL quarterback to help build a long-lasting winning culture for the soccer fans of Westchester.”
The team’s majority owner, Mitch Baruchowitz, also spoke about adding Taylor to their group.
“We are thrilled that a consummate professional and leader like Tyrod was interested in joining our ownership group. We believe the insights he has learned from his years of NFL stardom will help us build a championship team and professional developmental pipeline for our region’s youth players for years to come.”
Westchester Soccer Club, or WSC for short, is joining the USL League One in 2025. They recently struck a partnership with the town of Mount Vernon, agreeing to make Memorial Field Stadium the home pitch of the organization.
The 2024 NFL season may not have started yet, but Taylor is already registering a win off the field in June. By joining the ownership group of the soccer club, he will help bring new opportunities to the Westchester area through the sport of soccer.
