ESPN analytics expert Seth Walder graded the New York Jets’ offseason
One ESPN analyst had a relatively upbeat assessment of the New York Jets’ offseason.
In his article grading every team’s offseason, Seth Walder gave New York a “B+” for their moves. He said the Tyron Smith signing was their best move, while retaining Nathaniel Hackett was their worst.
“The Jets know who they are, and their 2024 offseason reflected that. With a Super Bowl window that could close after the season, they made moves to shore up needs and crafted a roster around quarterback Aaron Rodgers that has a chance to win,” said Walder.
Additionally, Walder said, “The one insurance policy was using a first-round pick on offensive tackle Olu Fashanu, but I like this in conjunction with the two veteran tackle acquisitions (Morgan Moses being the other beyond Smith).”
Walder mentioned that he felt “the Eagles got the best of the Jets” in the swap of Bryce Huff and Haason Reddick and said they made an error in signing Javon Kinlaw, mainly due to not being able to receive a compensatory pick.
Walder’s assessment of the Jets is very fair, with all things considered.
The Jets are built for a Super Bowl run, and if everything breaks right, they have a great chance to capitalize on their potential. They solidified their offensive line unit with their additions in the offseason. Their moves to acquire Reddick and Kinlaw could have ramifications in the future.
However, it all comes down to what the team does on the field in the 2024 season. The true grade of the team’s season will be revealed only through what occurs in the games.
