These New York Jets storylines will be interesting to monitor in training camp
While the national media excoriates the New York Jets for Aaron Rodgers’ and Haason Reddick’s absences from mandatory minicamp, they’re mostly ignoring the more important Jets storylines. Rodgers was present for a month’s worth of practices and missed two. During his practices, there were many takeaways that the Jets’ beat writers covered, but those got lost in the greater Rodgers/Reddick hoopla.
No Jets reporter is more on the spot when it comes to OTAs and minicamp than Jets X-Factor’s Robby Sabo. His X account is the one-stop shop for the nuances of what’s going on out on the field (to the extent possible without revealing too much schematically). Therefore, Robby joined The Score Boord Podcast to talk about his impressions from OTAs and some of the most interesting Jets narratives heading into training camp.
Among the topics we addressed:
- How Xavier Gipson has improved, and what that means for Malachi Corley and Allen Lazard
- Expectations for Mike Williams in training camp and the regular season
- The pecking order along the Jets’ defensive line and at safety
- How concerned to be over Rodgers’ Achilles injury
You can check out the full YouTube episode here. (Before Robby joined, I went on a bit of a rant about the media relationship with Rodgers and the hype surrounding the Rodgers/Reddick absences.)
