Dan Orlovsky joins in on the Davante Adams-to-New York Jets trade talk
New York Jets players have hinted at it. Boomer Esiason has said he believes it will happen – potentially as early as August or September. Now, a prominent analyst at ESPN thinks it’s a “done deal.”
Speaking on ESPN’s “Get Up” on Tuesday morning, former NFL quarterback and current ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky predicted that Davante Adams will be traded to the New York Jets at some point this year. “I think it’s a done deal,” Orlovsky said. “At some point, Davante Adams plays for the Jets this season.”
Dan Orlovsky: "I think this a done deal. At some point, Davante Adams plays for the Jets this season."
Greeny: "How do I make that my ring tone?… I want Dan saying that to be my ringtone."

Jets X-Factor’s Rivka Boord broke down the potential cap ramifications of an Adams-to-New York trade earlier today. While it would take some maneuvering from the Jets, it’s definitely a feasible possibility from a salary perspective.
The bigger question is whether the Jets would be willing to part with the necessary draft capital to acquire him. Earlier this year, Stefon Diggs fetched a second-round pick and two day-three picks. In a win-now year, though, it seems probable that the Jets would be willing to shell out whatever is necessary to land Aaron Rodgers’ former partner in crime, although that’s mere speculation.
Adams spent eight seasons in Green Bay alongside Aaron Rodgers. In 116 games as a Packer, Adams caught 669 passes for 8,121 yards and 73 touchdowns. He developed into a superstar over his final four seasons with Rodgers; from 2018-21, Adams caught 432 passes for 5,310 yards and 47 touchdowns in just 57 games.
In two years with the Raiders, Adams has caught 203 passes for 2,660 yards and 22 touchdowns.
