Jermaine Johnson is planning on taking another leap in 2024.

Appearing on NFL Network’s “The Insiders,” the New York Jets’ defensive end spoke to Tom Pelissero about his goals for this season and how he plans to contribute.

“My main goal is to be everything, and then some, for my team,” Johnson said. “Do my job, and then a little bit more…Go out there and make spectacular plays. Be extraordinary. Be a superstar. That’s what I’ve got in my notebook.”

Johnson also spoke about quarterback Aaron Rodgers, saying he is “excited to play with him” and knows that the future Hall-of-Famer “will come through for the team.” He also spoke about the true impact of Rodgers missing mandatory minicamp.

“Zero impact. We did not care. He had stuff he had to handle, and as you said, he was at all of the voluntary stuff. So it doesn’t make much sense to sit there and scrutinize a guy who has been at all the things he didn’t have to.”

Johnson is typically the most underrated out of the top four picks of the Jets’ 2022 draft class. He has solid production but does not get the same recognition as Sauce Gardner, Garrett Wilson, or Breece Hall.

However, with the planned leap he has in store, Johnson is in a position to become one of the most well-known Jets and overall edge rushers in the league.
